An Introduction to Macao Computer Society

Macao Computer Society (MCS) was previously known as Macau Computer Association (MCA). She was established in 1983. The society was established out of the need to provide a gathering place for people who were interest in computer science and computer application.

In the early 80's, computer was newly introduced to Macao. MCS took up the responsibility to promote computer knowledge and usage. Through the years, MCA organized many seminars and computer knowledge related competitions.

In 2008, we formaly changed our English name form Macau Computer Association to Macao Computer Society. However, our URL remain as www.mca.org.mo because some DNS naming conflict with other Association in Macao.

International Olympiad in Informatics

More recently, MCS also organizes teams to participate in both the Chinese National Olympiad in Informatics (NOI) and International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI). In particular, we were the host city for NOI'2000 which took place at 24-28 March, 2000 in Macao. At the same time, an annual I.T. Congress is also organized by MCS to promote I.T. in Macao and the co-operation in I.T. between Mainland China, Hong Kong and South Asia region.

APICTA

Starting from 2003, MCA formally became one of the member in APICTAN. And in 2006, Macao will be the host place for APICTA 2006.
